"Richard although they come from China you will find that about 90 percent of the replacement parts can be obtained at a Yamaha dealer. Alot of the powerheads on new motors are being built in China to the major mfg's specs.

It may be coincidental, but these started showing up on the market almost at the same time as Yami's deal to build Merc's ended and the push to get 2 strokes off the market really got going.

The stickers on the motor, particularly the smaller models, usually have little to do with who actually built them. The small 4-stroke Johnson's were built by Suzuki. The 2 stroke Merc's were Yamaha and now the 4 strokes are Tohatsu's - who also builds all the Nissans. Older Honda's used Merc gearcases etc...."
