hi i am replacing a 77 35 evinrude impeller , and my problem is that key thing on the drive shaft. the impeller plate won't go over it, there isn't a slot for it, and i can't remvoe the key as every description, including hte manual i have for it, says to do. can u remove the drive shaft from the bottom unit completely nad place the impeller plate in place, then replace the drive shaf so the key restes on topt? i hate to pull the drive shaft out as i am wondering about the seal and if it will be comprised. thanks! perhaps suggestions as how to 'remove the key' is done might help too.
