"I have a local mechanic putting 1990 carbs on my 2003, 50hp, two stroke outboard. He says the carbs are much better than the plastic originals. Is this true?
If so, what idle and main jets should be used at sea level? I see four possible idle jets listed in parts (29, 31, 32, 34) but no such listings for the main. Seems like there should be some choices since running at 8,000 feet and sea level would make a difference."

"i dont know that the function,would be any diff,..but i dont care for 'plastic' carbs either...warped bowls,cracked area's due to over tightening,etc,...ck w ur mech about the jets he plans on using..u would,in fact need to re-jet,for higher altitudes..."
 
Higher altitude = less air = n

Higher altitude = less air = need different jets for the right mixture. I was hoping some one might know which one to use at sea level.
