Battery ?

Have a Merc 02 40hp 2stk. Does this engine have the ability to charge two batteries at the same time?

I wouldn't do it...it would be too much of a load for the charge system. Install a 2 battery bank switch and charge one at a time. Small OB charge systems are designed to top off a battery and provide operating current for the electonics. It would take hours of running at cruising speed to charge a mostly discharged battery.

Engine charging systems are designed to maintain. They will recharge over a long time, but batteries that are more than 50% discharged should be recharged on a battery charger not an engine charging system. A 50% charged battery may start your engine, but the charging system will be taxed to the max trying to bring it up to a 100%. Good advice from guyjg
