I was looking at the crusader

I was looking at the crusader engine manual and found a blurb that states should use 89 or better.

And states if you are outside the USA and need to use 86 octane then to retard the timing 4 degrees...

My boat has been running fine on 86 octane (treated with stabil). I somehow I missed that small fact! half the time I get gas from dock (89) and half from my six 5 gals containers filled with (86).

So the question is should I:

1. leave well enough alone and keep doing what seems to work

2. try to retard the timeing this spring (4 degrees sound like a lot)

3. give away my 260 gals of gas from my full tank (I filled up with sub $2 gas by bringing gas each visit this winter) and refill with 89 octane.

"Give away the fuel, where do you live? Only kidding, it's not a bad idea to retard the timing. You will only see a performance change at WOT and that will only be minimal if noticeable at all. It will extend engine life and give you some breathing room in case you ger a "Bad" batch."
