Anyone know which auto substit

Anyone know which auto substitute for plug wires can be used? The marine set is $130 and I am trying to save a little money. I assume a 1980 volvo 240 or 244 will be the same???

"I took my old plug wires into an auto parts store and then opened boxes of plug wires until I found a set that would work in terms of wire lengths. I ended up buying a set of Bosch wires for a 6 cylinder for my 4 cylinder AQ130C...so I have two spare wires.

All told, the set cost me about $20 instead of the outrageous price for so-called "marine OEM equivalents" and they have worked great at a fraction of the cost."

"Neo, it was several years ago that I bought those wires and I do not have the box any longer nor did I write anything down -- sorry. I wish I had but as I recall it was pretty easy to find a set of wires that would work by just opening up the boxes and looking at the wire lengths until I found something suitable. For my AQ130C, I was looking for a set that had a couple of short wires and another couple that were longer."

"These days they keep spark wires in the back so you can not browse thru the boxes, thats the problem with that. Thanks anyway"

"Neo, can you cross reference

"Neo, can you cross reference the AQ125B to a Volvo automobile? If so use it to look up the spark plug wires at Bosch's lookup page here http://jobs.boschusa.com/AutoParts/PartFinder/partfinder.asp. For example, the AQ130C engine is a Volvo B20 engine installed in the Volvo P1800 (among others) and I found that the Bosch 09032 wire set is suitable for the P1800 and while I have not seen the actual wires, the pics of them seem to indicate that they would be suitable for my engine. Sometimes you just have to get creative.

"Hey guys, I found my wires.

"Hey guys, I found my wires. I went to Napa and got a hold of their book which has pictures and LENGHTS of all wire sets. I looked for the style I wanted and then checked the lenghts until I found something that worked. I got #700286 of the Napa/Belden Max brand. 25-36 inch lenghts and a 25 inch coil wire. Hope to get all the new stuff and a HotStart ignition installed tonight."

Tell us all what wires work...

Tell us all what wires work.....Which model volvo and year. Then we will all know....Thanks!!!

"I have a 1980 Glasply with the AQ120B. Napa brand #700286 wires ($25.00).
They don't have the plastic tubes on the plug end to keep off the manifold, but they have the long rubber ends that will work just fine."

"I just got some at AutoZone, they charged me $46 for the set and they did not fit, too short and the coil boot did was so small I could not get it on. Took them back. Tired of returning stuff that wont fit, high prices etc. Like to get decent Bosch set to fit AQ125B for decent price. Too much to ask? LOL"

"Bob, according to my notes the AQ125A is a B21 but the AQ125B is a B230. In any case, it shouldn't matter, as the ignition wires should be compatible."

"the wires you will find for the volvo B21 and B23 are not going to work. They have a tin/metal cover over the spark plug boot to shield from the manifold heat. I figured these would rust. If you use these, you will also need to take the nipple off the end of the spark plug so just the threaded part of the plug goes in the wire."

"My old plugs had only the thr

"My old plugs had only the threaded top on them and wires are red with straight rubber boot on plug side, coil is plain black and only mark on it is "Made in Argentina" - go figure, distributor is Bosch, plugs are Volvo.

Its definitely a multinational conspiracy to screw me up, Hehehe."
