Is there any way I can tell if

Is there any way I can tell if anything is broken inside my motor with not taking it apart.
I think the head gasket went bad while it was running. So as it stalled and I tried to start it before I realized something was wrong. It cranked very slow and I think it hydro locked. I have no compression on some cylinders.

Before my trouble started I had a linkage problem with shifter so I had to back up against the current. I am new to inboard/outboard motors
Could my engine sucked in water from exhaust?
All I know is it was running then just stalled out
and when I raised hatch I saw water come up through carb when I crank motor.
I did remove spark plugs to get water out from cylinders. So my question is can I tell from taking spark plug out and seeing if piston moves.
Or how do I remove head to check condition of engine

"You need to pull the spark pl

"You need to pull the spark plugs and crank the engine to get the water out of the cyl's. Don't crank for very long or you'll hurt the starter. Crank, rest, crank, rest you get the picture. Once no water comes out of any cyl. then compression test it. Hopefully you have not hurt anything inside. let us know."

"If the results of the compres

"If the results of the compression test are bad, you should perform a leakdown test to pinpoint where is the loss of compression taking place (valves, head, piston rings)."

Also I forgot to say the oil d

Also I forgot to say the oil does not appear to have water in it. The engine was running 190 when it happened. I have had it hot a few times but never a problem till after I backrd up on the river.
I get a huge amount of water through carb.
I have boat out of water now.
But I had a mechanic come to look for free and he tested I think 2 cylinders and no compression so if the motor got water through the exhaust and it was running it must have broke something.
This motor when cranked will have about 2 cups of water in just a few seconds of cranking.

"In my opinion, either the exhaust manifold is perforated or (most likely) the timing belt has jumped a few teeth."
