The (length of throw) on the shift/throttle cam in the shifter itself is a little different when you compare OMC to Merc.
If you got a set of aftermarket controls (seachoice, teleflex etc) they do have the multiple anchor points for the different makes, but it would have to be the pair of controls (where one is just the throttles and the other just the shifters - so 4 separate handles).
The way we tend to rig for a remote kicker is go with a top mount control on the dash and a side control in the gunwale for the kicker (or a pair of side mounts back to back) - it depends what you have to work with.
To convert your rope start you will need a starter and solenoid and a couple of cables to go to the battery. If you select a control with a key then you can modify the harness using only the wires necessary for the remote start.
