Hi guys,

Ahh the Springtime gremlins... End of last season I experienced what I suspect were some backfire episodes... only last very short time so of course I let it go.

This Spring, she ran great on the hard.. Launched her and made my way to the slip no problem. Next day start her up and experience some coughing, very rough idling unable to get any power out of her as since I was tied off to dock I engaged tranny and she crapped out. Would re-start and do same thing.

Changed out fuel/water separator.... Gas looked clear, and no evidence of H20.

New Fuel/Water separator filter installed and then... went to start her

Now she will NOT start at all... wants to fire up, but just can't catch.

So short on time. I quickly check to see if the canister filter filled with fuel and it was full....

I'm questioning either Carb Rebuild , or MAYBE the electronic fuel pump.. but if my fuel pump was toast would the fuel/water separator filter fill??

That fuel pump is between the filter and the carb...

ANY input is appreciated...

sounds like you are guessing at fuel.....I'd suggest you start with adequate time and do a thorough troubleshooting to determine is you issue is fuel or spark.....known issues on your engines include the MSTS stuff and the oil pressure switch on the fuel pump.....

I have spark... MSTS is gone, all new ignition... regarding oil pressure switch, if that's compromised would the engine start to run and sputter out? I believe that wouldn't power the pump at all.. am I wrong on that?

Yes, your description is likely.

There are a couple of switch & wiring configurations....In short, the pump gets energized when the starter is engaged, and then the ignition circuit, once the oil pressure switch is satisfied.....you can usually 'jump' the switch for testing purposes.

And if it is the switch, the list price was over $100 last time I looked.....there are significantly more economical options if you don't mind a little wiring change.....
