"My engine surges pretty bad when I start it up and after a while it smooths out but sometimes that takes half an hour. I know these take some time to get to temp but it seems like even after it's warmed up it still runs like crap and then it's like you flipped a switch and it runs perfect for the rest of the day but then the next time I use it it's back to running crappy. It's almost like its missing on half the plugs and then they come to life. I can't find any loose wires and was wondering if maybe it's a fuel problem, which causes the surging. If I give it some throttle it acts like it's going to tear off the boat.

Any thoughts would be appreciated."

I had a 91 175 that acted simi

I had a 91 175 that acted similar. Turned out it was a bad powerpack. The boat seemed like it was only running on 3 cylindars and then about 1/2 hour after 1st starting up it would finally start running on all 6. The only thing I could figure is that the heat from the engine would finally heat up the pack enough for it to start working correctly. The problem would repeat itself the next day. I replaced the pack and it ran like a champ right out of the ramp.
