454s Electrical or Fuel Problem

"I have a 1992 Tiara with twin

"I have a 1992 Tiara with twin 454s. I recently had an electrical issue with the starboard engine ... Believe it or not, two plug wires came loose. So that was obvious. But now when I get back up to >2400 rpms, the rpms suddenly drops wildly then catches back up then drops again (fluctuates back and forth). Seems like it suddenly starves for fuel.

I changed the two fuel/water separators two weeks ago. Is there an inline filter for this year engine? I don't see one.

Is this potentially some kind of electrical issue from having a couple of wires loose? I checked the obvious to make sure the wires were on the correct plugs.

The engine runs perfect at about 2000 rpms or less. Thanks for your help."

"not likely the fuel as it would impact both engines.

make sure the spin-on filter is tight.

Did you check the plugs where the wires were off - they may be contaminated and driving the rpm loss.

Have you checked to ensure your spark timing is advancing? Mechanical advances, when not 'right' will do the trick you have described."
