"Well got the new fix dist from marine power, ran it for just over a hour and got hot enough to take out the module or pick-up, this is the one with the bearing machined into the top, 4 dist in less 20 hours is getting real $$$$ any idea's, is it possible to change back to the gear to gear way of reverse rotating a gen 6 engine ??? thanks again, Rob"

"I don't recall the history of your problem, but have you have the heads or block milled at any time, or is this a remanufactured engine?

How is your cam driven now?"

"It is brand new GM marine engine, reversing done by ceterstate engine, cam is chain driven, so has special grind cam and reverse cut dist gear."

"I have a new Gen VI gear driven cam and gear in stock if you want to switch it out.

I can't explain why you are having these failures. It has to be due to the distributor spacing, possibly an incompatible intake manifold or incorrect gaskets.
