1980 40 hp, 2 cylinder merc.
Just replaced the water pump, rebuilt carb and fuel pump. Had to readjust a few things as I had a small leak in the fuel system. Ran good for about two minutes and then rev'd out of control. Shut it down and now when it starts, it revs very high. Choke plate moves ok as well as the throttle plate. Any thoughts?
Also does someone know of simple linc and sync procedures. I bought an electronic copy of the merc manual, but the quality of the pictures are not good so it tends to be less than straight forward. Plus there are some procedures that don't make sense, such as using a timing light at WOT.
