Hi all could someone just conf

Hi all could someone just confirm that the rod which releases the retaining pawl has a threaded bit at the top .Mine is playing up and i just noticed i dont have any threaded bit or nut or sleeve just about 6 mm of smooth rod pokeing thru top of caseing.
