2005 115hp wiring.

Yamaha F115TLRD. Manufactured in 2004 but I realized later that it’s a 2005 model if I’m not mistaken.

I have 2 concerns after repower. I used to have a 1999 2 stroke Yamaha before. So my harness isn’t a perfect match with what I had before. I see other people have this problem and I’ve used them to fix other parts, but I’m still not sure on some things.

1. Does the overheat switch wiring go through the 10-pin now? I want to confirm that it is wired correctly in case I were to overheat. I know the alarm works when I had it wired to the older one.

I see a black yellow sensor on the side of the block I can unplug. I tried to take some narrow pliers and complete the circuit to see if I would hear the alarm, nothing happened. Am I doing that wrong?

2. Trim position. There’s a 2 wire connector that is already plugged in and I’m not sure where it goes. Seems to go with the main 10 pin. I’ll attach a photo. Is that the trim position sender?

The ten pin harness from your 1999 model will be plug and play.

The temperature sensor is a variable resistance device. Tells the ECU when the motor is cold and when it is hot.

Your 1999 model used a three wire trim sender. The F115TLRD uses a two wire sender. The sender information and the grounds for warning lights in a Yamaha tachometer go from the motor to the tachometer via what Yamaha calls a trim/oil harness. If you have this harness you will not it has two four pin connectors at each end. The motor you have now uses just one four pin connector at each end. Yamaha has an adapter harness that goes at the tachometer end of the trim/oil harness.

Thank you for the reply. My 10 pin works great. Boat starts, runs, tach works. Does the alarm signal for overheating go through the 10-pin?

I attached a photo of the old trim/oil harness hanging out of the back of my boat before I plugged the green one into the only 4 pin connector that matches. that seems to make my lights respond (704). The light on the right lights up on startup. Is that the 4 pin connector you’re talking about? It currently only has 2 wires used on that connector. The other connector from my old trim/oil harness has no place to go. So I’m confused on how any adaptor work on the tachometer end.

Another struggle I have I that the wires are faded. I can’t tell if that connector that already has 2 on it is pink or faded red. I have no idea of where that ones goes also which bothers me.

i should note that the trim level gauge never worked when I bought the boat used. Now with a repower I’m trying to get it working. Might have to replace the gauge because when I give it power it doesn’t move like other gauges.

1A / 1B - 2 pin -I don’t know what this is.
2A / 2B - 4 pin connector. Low oil indicator? This is the 4 pin connector I’m assuming you’re talking about and even though it fits, maybe I’m not using it correctly?
3B - outdated trim/oil harness. Unplugged.

Same audible alarm signal (a ground) goes through the ten pin harness to the warning horn. The pink wire. Same warning horn for both over temperature and low oil pressure.

The trim sender wire to the engine harness is now a two wire sender. Pink and black.
