2002 115 hp 4 stroke with 400 hours. Never cussed me a problem till recently. Started when coming down off a plane it would hit a spot about 1200 rpm where it would miss but as soon as you dropped below 1200 it ran fine. Did this off and on for a while. Suspected the TPS because if I sprayed the underside of the TPS with some electraclean, problem would go away for several weeks. Figured it was a dead spot in the potentiometer in the TPS.
finallybdecide to replace it with a brand new Yammy TPS. Not it starts just fine and idles for 5-10 seconds, then starts surging exactly as if someone was turning the ignition on and off rapidly. If I start on fast idle it runs fine until I slow it down to idle to shift gears.
any ideas ?
