Recently repowered a boat with a 2002 suzuki df140 I bought. Something is wrong with the shifting. Under load (Engine running), lower wont go into gear unless I force the shift linkage with a screwdriver or something. Cables are adjusted properly (Put control box and engine precisely in neutral and adjusted the cable ends so they fit properly) and nothing seems to be wrong in the control box or with the cable itself as they are both pretty new. shift shaft splines seem to be aligned properly. Could there be wear on the clutch dog/forward gear in the lower to make the shifting not work unless the linkage is pushed hard? I disconnected the cable on the OB side and shifted the linkage, but it takes a lot of linkage travel to put the lower in gear and the prop seems to have to spin a lot too make the internals engage.
Ill have a bad video showing me putting the linkage in reverse to show how much prop turn was needed to engage the internals but it will not let me upload due to file size. Help would be appreciated as this is very frustrating!
