2001 mariner water temp indicator

I am working on a 2001 mariner 90 hp four stroke and was wondering if the factory had a water temp gauge as standard equipment or a warning horn for engine over temp. If either this true, what color wire is used for this indication? help please...

a warning horn for engine over temp.

Should have one. Merc's wire is tan w/blue stripe, not sure about Mariner. Look on the spark plug cover plate for a wire coming out of it. Follow that wire to a junction and ground it. It should set off the alrm horn.
