1999 Mercrusiser Crownline Problem

5.7 MPI fuel injected. Runs perfect for 10 to 15 mins and then starts backfiring through the throttle body. I can slow down and sometimes it goes away. At other times, pop, pop, pop, more gas I give it the more it pops. Thanks for your help.

Forgot to add that it seems to be running rich. At end of the day the chrome exhaust is covered with black soot.
