1999 EFI 150 Stator Replacement ???

I’m trying to help my buddy get his boat back on the water. We’re both novice outboard mechanics. This started when he diagnosed weak spark on the port side cylinders well over a year ago. He replaced the coil packs followed by replacing the power packs. Yesterday we removed and tested the stator and one side is really out of spec. This particular model has dual regulator/rectifiers, one set of wires going to one regulator is within spec 1.2-1.3 ohms, the other side is low, approximately half, .6-.7 ohms. The model number is 398-9610 A33. The A33 has four yellow wires coming off of the stator, two to each of the dual regulator/rectifier’s. I’ve located a 398-9610 A9, but it only has two yellow wires coming off of the stator, my research indicates this came off of a 91-92 model motor with a single regulator.

My question is this, can we use this A9 40AMP stator and simply connect both of the yellow wires from each regulator to the one of the single wires from each side of the stator?

Nope.....larger magnets will cause excessive voltage on ignition coils and charging system and will melt down stator.
