I have a 1996 Johnson 50 HP .

I have a 1996 Johnson 50 HP . The no oil alarm went off the last time I had it on the water. I repumped the oil ball and it did not go off again.How much oil should it use ? Is it ok to add a little oil to the gas tank to ensure that it is in fact getting some oil? And is there a way I can double check to make sure it is pumping oil into the engine ?
