"Charles, thank you the plugs

"Charles, thank you the plugs I had in there (QL78YC)they look to be about 1/8 of an inch longer. The last time I went out in the boat it lost some power ( it felt like trash had got in the carbs). I took the carbs down and rebuilt them and checked the spark plugs...the plugs on the right bank of the motor had a smaller gap than the left..after futher investigation i noticed the piston had a small nick it. My question is could this be the result of the longer plugs or do I have a more serious problem like bad/spun bearings on the two rods?"

"well ,the piston had a nick ,

"well ,the piston had a nick ,does it look like the plug hit it?spun bearings?you will need to check the end play on both rods/bearings.
put the proper plugs in and give it a run.
if the bearings where spun it probably would not run as well as it does,in fact it would make strange knocking sounds."

"I definitely think the plug t

"I definitely think the plug tip is what made the mark....The motor did not make a kocking noise and after it happened I had about a 4 mile trip back to the landing. Other than it being down on power everything else worked fine. I thought it might have been the stator, it ran fine at idle just under power it struggled. I will put another set of plugs (the right ones) and give you an update after I run it. Thanks again for all the help."
