Last year my 87 35 hp merc would intermittently fire on only one cylinder so I replaced both coils but never got a chance to put under a load a check to see if it was fixed. This year went to start and had absolutely no spark so I took it in for diagnostics and they told me it was stator and switch box and would fix for 900.00. I brought it home and today bought the stator and installed. Tried to start and after a 20 second crank it would give me a single fire and crank again for about 20 seconds I would get a single fire. Should I just go ahead and replace switch box as well? I am lost. Thanks in advance.
