1984 suzuki dt 115 carb issues

I have a 1984 2 stroke suzuki dt 115 that will only run when the carb flaps are totally closed.... even at high idle. As soon as the flaps open the engine shuts down. Why is that? Do I need to do a carb rebuild?

Sounds like your assumption is correct. If you don’t have a genuine Suzuki service manual I’d suggest you get one before the cleaning.
