~1980's BF100 Bad CDI??

Hi guys! Long time reader, first time poster.

My BF100 doesn't spark and I've read everything I could find about the issue and put in new plugs. Someone gave me this motor after it fell in the ocean while NOT running and then left it in the rain for three months. I took it apart, cleaned it up, made sure it wasn't all rusted out inside the cylinders and replaced some gnarly gaskets. Everything looks great and turns over like its new but I'm scratching my head over the spark. When I got the motor the timing belt simply let go when I tried to turn it over. I lined up the stamped letter and the post for the flywheel and lined up the dots for the cam and put on a new timing belt. Voila! Timing set. Thank you marineengine.com thread on BF100 timing setting!

Tested the primary coil and ignition coil, they both check out as far as resistance goes and I am getting a voltage spike from the primary coil when I pull the chord. I haven't been able to check the condenser yet but from what I've read, I should still be getting the oil pressure light blinking with a bad condenser (which I am not). My primary is the kind with one wire, not two.

This is one of the posts I've used to help find out if my coils are no good.

I was doing some testing for continuity in the wires yesterday after switching out the really-bad-looking bullet connectors the electrical system came with and I noticed that if I pull the connector for the primary coil/CDI apart, I will NOT have continuity from the end of the primary coil (exciter coil) wire to ground(which is good, from what I've read) but I WILL have continuity from the associated bullet connector to ground (through the CDI!). I'm assuming this is bad, after all, why would I want my fresh little spark to go to ground immediately?

I am starting to think that the spark is leaving the primary coil, heading into the CDI and simply getting grounded out. Seems like my CDI is probably a pile of corrosion.

Thoughts? Anything here would be great.

I'm not a mechanic but I'd say I have more motor-knowhow than most, until I come to electronics and I lost.

Can't wait to get on the water! It's almost crabbin' season!
