1979 mercury 200 water pump questions

Whats up everyone, name is steve and just joined this forum. Have a question about this 1979 mercury 200. Just bought motor, notice when you flush motor no water sprays out, only when you give it gas , alot of gas, even when boat is in water. Is that normal? My 1995 225 had a steady stream. I just dont no about these older motors. Thanks

Any time you pick up a used motor it is a good idea to install a new impeller.--------------The impeller on that motor should be replace at least every 2/ 3 years.------------Your description says it is past due time.

Don,t worry about the year as all the impellers for many years on big mercs and sterndrives are the same.----------Tell them you want the impeller where last # are 84.------Any good shop will know them by that #
