Last year I picked up a 1976 Cobalt 19 foot boat at auction All Original 282 Hours Got it running replaced the sea water pump The engine had water in the oil Changed out the oil put in fresh oil turned to milk again Maybe a head gasket or Assuming the worst ( Cracked Block) Can I use a Truck Ford 351 short block ? If so What Year (s) will everything bolt up ? Would I need to reuse the original cam Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Before removing the cylinder heads, perform a cylinder pressure "Leak-Down" test and a cooling system pressure test.

Can I use a Truck Ford 351 short block ?
I believe so!
But why a short blcok? Why not use the complete cylinder block and cylinder heads????

If so What Year (s) will everything bolt up ?
An Automotive Ford enthusiast forum might be the place to ask this question.

In this year range, these would be flat tappet camshafts and cam followers.
Typically we do not swap used FT camshaft/cam followers from one engine to another.

For those who may have made this work, each cam follower would have been used over the same cam.

I would steer clear of any used Raw Water cooled engine.
