1975 mercury 75hp. Tilt trim issue

I have a 1975 mercury 75 hp with original tilt trim system. The tilt motor is shot and the lift pistons leak pretty bad. Is it better to replace the whole system or fix it. If so. Replace with what. If fix where can I fond the tilt motor.

Well first Mercury didn't make a 75 in 75 so what is the serial Nr. Is it the 2 ram system with the pump in the boat or the one with the ram between the clamp brackets?

Model 75743s. Serial no j0003764. Trim motor outside the boat. 2 Rams on either side outside motor.

So you have a 1977 model 75 HP JOHNSON outboard motor ???-----Why do you say Mercury ???----Me curious.

Ooops. My mistake. Yes Johnson. I'm a goob. my Other is mercury. Actually it's an evinrude. But says johnson. Duh.
