1973 Mercury 2 stroke 40hp 400

Can anyone help with a wiring diagram for this model? I have been doing some work on it and can’t figure out where the red wire from the stator goes, it has a large diameter ring when compared to the other 4 wires but I don’t see where it should connect

Goes to the solenoid.

Which side of the solenoid? I have 4 wires connected to the solenoid main power in (thick red wire), power out to starter motor (thick yellow). And the other two smaller wires coming from the stator are the yellow/red and yellow wires
