‘92 Supra overheats at higher RPM only

351 PCM runs smooth and cool at low and mid RPM but gets hot above 30MPH. Planning to replace impeller. Anything else I need to check?
 
inspect the pump housing to ensure it has no damage ....

make sure the strainer cover is tight

how old are the exhaust elbows?
 
Check the thermostat housing- I worked on Supra boats and if the impeller lost a chunk of rubber, it can lodge in the little hole in the cover. Also, the impeller needs to be installed correctly WRT water pump rotation. If you see that the impeller has lost vanes, you'll need to make sure the rubber isn't lodged somewhere.

Check your exhaust risers- the passages may be clogged. It's porobably time for new riser gaskets, too.

If it dosn't have an actual strainer, make sure the oil cooler isn't clogged with debris, plant or otherwise.
