    What is Tube on top/front of 40 hp Gearcase?

    I have a n '02 Mercury 40 hp Bigfoot 4 stroke serial OT505263 There is a black plastic/rubber tube hanging from a nipple on the top/front above gearcase. Maybe 1/4 inch id. Cannot find any reference to it in the manual. What is it for and where is it supposed to go? Muskrat or something chewed...
