    Mercury Classic 50 cranks but won't catch

    I have a 1988 Mercury 45 HP, 4 Cylinder ("Classic 50" SN:OA734121) which was running then just stopped. The engine turns over fine, but won't 'catch'. I took it to a marina and they said that it was probably a stator problem, but they told me that often other things go when the stator goes...
