Replacement exciter coil for Honda BF25A

Are the exciter coils of the old 30590-ZV7-003 and the one used in the newer 2004 motor interchangeable? The old one has some sort of sealed area perhaps for a voltage regulator or something? The part 30595-ZW2-F01, although will fit, does not appear to have the same configuration. Any...

    Honda 1996 bf30a

Just some thoughts: 1) pull off the small black water hose on the CDI side of the motor and run the motor briefly. If flow is good then maybe problem in hose section that goes under the motor to the other side, 2) Thermostat could be all clogged up and stopping flow. It has easy access on CDI...

Great to hear you are good to go. Yes the black plastic spinner is the working part of the water pump. Thank you for your honesty with growing knowledge, we are all growing and helping each other. I have an older Honda 25hp and it is humbling me too. Enjoy your boating.

honda BFP9.9D no spark at times

First thing is to check the water pump.: This is located down inside the propella housing (so it can get to the water) and is driven by a large drive shaft from the motor.. You need to loosen and remove the lower unit's bolts (remember to separate the small shift connection first). You can then...

    Honda BF30A crossed polarity

Yes CDI is big bucks so hope that is ok. You can check the ohms on the exciter and pulser coils as well as the CDI. Also a further check with a DAV & multi-meter to verify coils and CDI are creating proper peak voltage. There are CDI's out there for 25 and 30 HD Hondas. Just take your time and...

honda BFP9.9D no spark at times

Yes heat could be the issue. But also possible there are 2 problems. First the simple one of no water coming out may just need a new water pump spinner in the lower 1/2 of the motor. The 2nd problem may be the heat is effecting the exciter coil and you will need a DVA and muli-meter to determine...

Need some help to identify the part name of my 1997 90hp 4-stroke

Just for the basics: the starter (a little larger than the size of a can of soda), will have a gear on the top to engage the flywheel teeth. The solenoid is usually attached or very close to the starter motor, and has smaller wires coming from the ignition switch that engage the hot plus...

Replacement exciter coil for Honda BF25A

The resistance shows range 272- 368 ohms. Please check the voltage output too as ohms can be fine but still coil may not be working. You will need a DVA adapter for your multi-meter to read the correct voltage (remember to set the meter on DC volts when using the DVA)
