    1986 johnson GT 200 dies when opening the throttle

    A friend of mine bought my old A friend of mine bought my old boat and after a couple of trips out it has began to die immediat ely upon opening the throttle.( Has hot foot on it) restarts immediately and idles fine ... there is not much fuel in the filter on the side of the motor compression...

    how can i tell if my motor is how can i tell if my motor is using too much oil? The last few trips the motor has been hard to start and is smoking excessively. Also was not idling very well
