    Mercury 3.0 Gimbrel bearing change but now it’s in gear all the time

    Can anyone help me understand what I did wrong? I changed the gimbal bearing lined everything up made a carb change took it to the lake and now it’s in forward gear and takes off when started. 1988 alpha one gen one help please
