No start on 2002 Mercury 115 EFI 4 stroke

See if you can find the starter relay. Looks like that shown below. Use a pair of pliers or a screw driver to jumper from one power terminal to the other. See if the starter motor engergizes.

No start on 2002 Mercury 115 EFI 4 stroke

2002 Mercury four stroke 115's (and 2002 Yamaha F115's) use an alternator. Just maybe a different type from that which you are thinking.

No start on 2002 Mercury 115 EFI 4 stroke

Can you look at the ECU at the front of the motor and tell us what markings you see on it? I am going to guess that the power plant was made by Yamaha.

    2005 Yamaha F115 charging problem.

A burned connection to me indicates poor connectivity at the terminal junction point. High resistance resulting in high temperatures. At a loss to understand how a new connector to a new R/R can be defective. Hopefully an OEM style new connector was used. How are the connections from the...

    Qualities of Yamaha

It would be nice to know what Yamaha is thinking when it comes to the aluminium alloys they use. They do seem to corrode moreso than other models. Suzuki's being a close second.

    P175TLRV 62H Yamaha Outboard

Continuity across the float switches is one thing. Ground to the float switch and from the float switch to the CDI assembly is also needed.

    Yamaha F250 water pump procedure

Having said that, if the shift lever is used to put the motor into a gear, and the shift mechanism on the lower unit is not messed with, that should work as well. You might find yourself having a hellava time turning the drive shaft via the propeller shaft.

    Yamaha F250 water pump procedure

Leaving it in neutral is the normal procedure. The lower unit can be rotated a tad one way or the other if needed to get the splines to engage. Also, the flywheel can be rotated a bit if needed.

Electrical Short.... Can't Figure it out.

An electrical short won't run a battery down. A short will either blow a fuse, trip a circuit breaker or let smoke out of a wire.

    yamaha 25hp starting problem

OEM switch replacement or non OEM switch? Tiller steered model or remote controlled? Any idea as to the model of the motor? They are not all the same.

2004 Yamaha 90 TLRB no fire on cylinder 1

No points (thank God). Electronic ignition. Capacitor Discharge Ignition system. CDI. A coil (part of the stator) produces electricity and stores it within a capacitor that is within a CDI box. Another coil determines when the electricity is to be discharged to the ignition coil. The...

Need help wiring 1997 Yam 90 to tilt/trim gauge

Another thought is to change the trim sender from the three wire type to the two wire type. But at Yam's prices it might be cheaper (and easier) to change the gauge.

Need help wiring 1997 Yam 90 to tilt/trim gauge

My guess is that someone tried to use the wrong Faria trim gauge. The resistance of the sender (empty to full) is not compatible with the resistance that the Faria gauge is looking for.

Need help wiring 1997 Yam 90 to tilt/trim gauge

Has this problem always been there or is it new? Is the trim sender cam in good working order? They were originally plastic. Which would break. Has been replaced by a metal cam. If the cam is working correctly, has the cam been set such that when the motor is in the full down position then the...

    Alternator question

If the old alternator is working it should have value to someone. Finding the someone is the difficult part. Maybe call some auto electric places and see if they will give you anything for it.
