    you need to be aware that the drain hole is part of a cavity not connected to the internal casing. If the crack is in the internal side of the cavity it cant be repaired.

    you could be sucking exaust gases in from the impeller area. running ,not moving the exaust cavity is water filled, underway there is only exaust gas mixed with water exiting the motor Drop the lower unit, install muffs and see where the water is squirting out from

    If you do have the Blue plugs the brass insert must be removed first to screw into the block. block threads are 1/4 pipe . there should also be 2 core plugs in the front of the motor.One on each side. You could try going inside from there
