Re: 8.1 - bunch of codes

if you were closer, I could let you use my 'stroboscope'....a piece of reflective tape on the balancer and you get the non-contact reading....it also has a rubber nose for making a contact...

I doubt the digital reading has much error...the only way I can see two tachs with a fixed bias was if they were calibrated with it...and being it is likely they are same brand from same...

Re: 8.1 - bunch of codes

    Re: Which coolant??

you don't say which vintage you have...your owners manual should give you a good guide (or you local dealer could as well)...

    Re: Under Hood Temps

The design point for engine box air temp is 150 deg F for the modern fuel injected engines....any fuel valve should easily handle that temp (not that it would see it down on the sringers....as far as...

Re: thermostat question on older crusader

    thanks for the kind words.

If you are going to be 'not pushing it' its likely you'll never see anything beyond the 170 recent peak and you can use that as a reference...another option would be to...

Re: 8.1 - bunch of codes

That is an ugly list....if you are sure the all of the *! codes are 'historic', I'd be inclined to delete them and start with a fresh baseline....i know there are a handful of 'historic' codes in my...

Re: thermostat question on older crusader

While IR guns are great, they are not all known for being accurate, especially if they have a large spot size and you are measuring from more than of foot of separation.

    For measuring around the...

  16. Re: Chips in gel coat. Are they necessary to repair?

Agreed more than chips...at a minimum, I would roughen them up and fill them with marine-tex, to seal the hull...the cosmetic finishes are optional...depending upon your wallet's content...

you can try CRC electronics Cleaner (spray) on the switch....or check the solenoid....

Best to troubleshoot the issue so you can get it done right the first time....

If its a trailer boat, I'd suggest filling what is there and installing a standard drain tube and then use a regular drain plug...
