cmorris - Suggest you contact Rich Langtry at BMW Marine/V12 Engineering in Vancouver BC (204) 541-0022. I recently bought a BMW D190Z on a cradle. He steered me to the Mercruiser D10 Service manual...

Re: BMW D190 Riser/Exhaust Elbow Design

Thanks anyhow. Have come up on the learning curve and now understand "wet risers" are double walled, pipe in pipe. My concern about saltwater draining into the turbo has been explained away.

Went and bought the engine in Houston but no riser/exhaust elbow. Can buy an OEM one from Germany for $1456 delivered. That probably will not happen. I can have a stainless steel one made for $200....

    Re: No Thermostat, '71 LM318

Yes the outdrive is a Volvo. Once again the risers have CHRYSLER cast into them. Had a conversation with a counter man at Marysville Marine. Because the engine is painted red he said it may be a...

    Re: No Thermostat, '71 LM318

Called Robert Shaw. They have a brass 318 thermostat for $24 that may work. Temperature is 160 degrees. I understand I need a 140 degree for salt water. Although the boat is on a trailer so it would...

Re: Sierra electronic distributor for 318

Okay this is confusing. Clicked on the Sierra, $536. Searched for "318 electronic distributors" on Amazon and got a lot. Prices ranging from $50 to $600. Looked at a few but saw no mention of VR. Did...

I was kidding about the Tango. Argentina reminded me of a Robert Duvall movie "Assassination Tango". I think I understand most of your reply that Holleys are the most common in Argentina. Apparently...

    Re: LM318 Manifold Crack?

How is it you guess they are 4 years old? Maybe older? That doesn't seem like a long enough time to deteriorate/rust out. I have a '71 LM318. The risers are at least 10 years old. But then again my...

    Re: LM 318 to 340/360?

Okay, my bad. Somewhere I got the impression/idea that a 318 and 340 were the same block difference being pistons and heads and the 360 was maybe an extension of that idea. Apparently not. So, forget...
