    Do your sea trialing tied to the dock at least for the first half hour. Make sure it's not overheating or some other major thing. Put it in gear and run it thru the RPM range. You won't hurt anything...

    Don't use any starting fluid. If you must prime the carb, just drizzle a little bit of gasoline into the carb...like half an ounce. If it doesn't try to catch then you should investigate spark, etc....
