I found this after removing the carburetor tree to clean them. I have a 1998 115 hp tracker marine (mercury built) I took the carburetors out cleaned them and put them back hooked every thing back up and later found this on the back of my boat but I didnt see anything like this while doing the cleaning. Please any help with figuring out what its from thank you

If you post the motor's serial number, it will be possible to search for the exact parts list.

A helicoil wouldn't have a round cross section, it would match the thread of the hole and bolt. It wouldn't have needed to be removed if it was in a carb, either.
Agree and if it was part of your carb assy's removal, you should have noticed the difference in resistance compared to the other fasteners when removing the assy.

Yeah the serial number is 0G691528
I have had the motor for 5 years this is first time im doing the work but didnt run into any loose bolts and didnt see a part like that any where else
