Oil injection setting 2004 Yamaha 40

Ive noticed a little oil coming from the exhaust ports rear of the motor and plugs seen a little oily. I checked my manual for a setting for oil injection and is 1 mm clearance between the lever and post. Mine was over a 1/4 inch ?????? I took it in some to just under a 1/4 inch, there is no way this could be adjusted anywhere near 1mm ,any ideas about this ?

What is the complete model identity? Better still, the complete engine serial number.

What manual did you use for the procedure?

Is the correct thickness nut being used?

Has the link rod been messed with?

Is the connecting clip the correct one for your model?

What nut were you referring to?

The rod and clip appear to be right

The nut that locks the clip into position.

Have you owned the motor since new?

Many many many think that it is better to over oil than to oil correctly. Would not surprise me if a backyardigan did something to get the motor to over oil.

That was my thought , no I got it 2 yrs ago it was used commercially,
So so take nut off to reset .

The nut is usually loosened as needed to adjust the terminal end fitting. After the fitting is set to get the correct distance the nut is turned down to lock the fitting into place.

Do you have the Yamaha service manual that depicts how to make the adjustment?
