1989 Mercury 150HP - unknown hose, possibly coming from poppet valve?

Hello!

I'm new to boating and bought myself a sea ray 180 cb with a 1989 Mercury 150 Black max. The engine, according to the previous owner, was overheating. I have replaced the thermostats which were completely seized closed and changed the impeller assembly.

I've found a hose in the engine that has been cut. Looking at the engine diagrams, it would seem this hose is coming from the poppet valve. I am not sure of this due to the poppet assembly on my engine looking nothing like the one in the diagram (which I've found based on my engines serial number). My theory is that someone has removed the poppet and just put a hole straight out leading through a hose.

I have not yet ran the engine until the thermostats open because I am afraid there'll be water pumping out of the hose when it gets up to temperature. So far I've only see exhaust fumes and some unburnt gas coming out of it.

My questions are really, does it look like my poppet valve has been replaced with just a hole and where should I connect this cut hose?

Is oil injection in service ??-----That looks like the hose that comes off the crankcase to put pressure on the main oil tank !!

Thanks for the swift reply! No, the oil injection has been removed completely from the engine, the fuel is pre-mixed. If this hose is what's keeping oil pressure up, where would I then find the poppet valve I'm thinking of? To me it looks like the poppet valve should be right there.

Either way, should I do anything about this hose if it is indeed the oil pressure hose? Should I plug it perhaps? It is spitting some unburnt fuel as I said and I don't want fuel all up in the engine.
 
???-----I would say that the cooling system poppit valve is easy to find.---A few bolts for that cover and a vent hole for diaphragm movement !!-----A little further back from the check valve for oil tank.-----Plug that cut hose or remove check valve and use a plug there.

Would you suggest the poppet valve is behind this assembly? Or have I read the diagrams completely wrong and it's on the port side of the engine?
