Solenoid part number

I need help finding the right part number to replace only the solenoid on a 2008 Mercury 90 hp efi outboarf

The stater is fine - I only need to solenoid. Can anyone help?

Yes, if I go around the solenoid and jump past it, the engine turns reliably

If you're looking to replace the solenoid on the starter, that does not appear to be available separate from the starter.

OK, I understand and saw that. Is there perhaps one that is available from another source aftermarket equivalents like the Sierra, 18-5834 4-terminal marine solenoid.

Does any of this make sense? I contacted Mercury directly zero and they were quick to tell me i would have to replace the entire starter. The cost ... over $450. I can't believe that this is the only option!

If you are talking about the solenoid attached to the starter motor itself you might try taking the assembly to an automotive starter motor repair shop. They will have a better source of replacement components. Or they could very well repair your part.

Tested the neutral start switch?

No, once it's in neutral, the solenoid either engages and starts the engine, or if just clicks.
