I recently purchased a older Yamaha T8 that needed a new impeller. However I could not get the coupler up high enough to disengage from the lower rod. Had to cut the lower rod under the jam nut to be able to remove the lower unit. But the coupler was seized on the upper rod and with minimal amount of room still could not get the coupler off. I had to pull power-head to access more of the upper rod and coupler to finally get it off. Ran tap & dies to clean up threads. Now my question is where do I locate the coupler nut on the upper shifting rod as a starting point in reassembly ??
