DF115 Temperature Light-No Alarm

Had the high temperature light illuminate with no alarm. Plenty of water coming from the pee hole and motor didn’t go into a limp mode. Turned the motor off and restarted it and the light stayed lit up.
Anyone ever dealt with that before?
 
No expert on a Suz but most computer controlled motors don't use anything on the gauge cluster and means nothing to the ECM. The gauge cluster is for you and it has sensors and switches that are not used by the ECM, the ECM uses different sensors. My guess is the Temp switch has gone bad

Prior to the temperature light illumination did the Caution System work properly? The Caution System should, key on, not started, illuminate the temperature, overrev, oil and check engine light for 2 seconds accompanied by the buzzer. This is a self check.

When was the last time the water pump was serviced?

If you are experiencing an overheat condition the caution system should have a code flashing and limit the engine revs, yours isn’t. My service manual(2009 DF90A) doesn’t mention anything about the light staying on without an alarm.

Post #2 is a valid point however the ECM controls the warning lights. The ECM is expecting the sensors to fall into a preprogrammed range, if they don’t then the caution system is activated.

A genuine Suzuki Service manual will have the testing procedures for the temperature sensors. Depending on the year Selfixer,com might have a pdf service manual for cheap.
 
Yes, the initial alarm comes on briefly with the key on. No alarms while running and no limiting on throttle.
Interesting enough, I let the motor sit for 2 days and then hooked water to it, ran it in the driveway and the light was illuminated right at start up. Makes me think it is a faulty sensor, but I would think that a bad sensor would still limit the throttle.

From my 2009 DF90A service manual. Checking the 2 temperature sensors is fairly easy. If both sensors check out then your issue could be in the wiring harness somewhere.
