Put a jack plate on my boat and need to set upper trim limit to keep it from hitting jack plate when motor is tilted up. Followed the instructions in my manual and cancelled the upper limit, now motor will go till extent of trim cylinder. Have put the trim where I want if set and following instructions, I get the buzzer when in neutral pushing throttle forward, and hit the upper trim button three times but am not get a single buzz saying limit is set. Have tried the three upper trim button push three times in 3 seconds and again at three times within 1 second. Have even cleared down trim and reset it to full down then tried to set up again and do not get verification beep that its upper limit is set. Any help Thanks

Have you checked the trim sensor. On older Suzuki’s I’ve read that they can move and get out of alignment. Not sure about the newer models.

Yes had to replace the trim sender bracket as it broke. Motor was stopping at upper set limit as before. But needed it to stop sooner so cancelled upper limit with not problem and got two beeps that it succeeded. But trying to set new upper limit I do not get 1 beep acknowledging that it is set.

If you’re following the owners manual instructions and it’s not working then I don’t know what else it could be.

I believe the trim is controlled via the ECM. Wondering if it’s a wiring issue? Check the wiring harness plugs for a good clean connection. A wiring schematic would help tracing wires, that would require an original service manual. Those ECM are pretty robust, I doubt that would be the issue.

Ok put a new trim sensor attaching to the bracket that pivets when the motor is trimmed. Now it will set the upper limit but when set the motor goes down but the trim will not trim back up unless I cancel the trim set again. I'm lost! sets new upper limit but when trying the trim after setting it goes down but will not trim back up, unless I cancel the upper trim setting.

In my service manual the down limit is discussed first then the up limit. It doesn’t say do the down first but the down procedure is before the up limit.

My original trim sensor DOA'ed bought a aftermarket on Amazon would set upper but then trim would not trim up after set, would not clear lower to reset it to see if that was causing the problem. So returning it to amazon and just ordered a OEM sender from Boats.net. will see if that fixes the settings.
