80's Mercruiser 3.0L with obsolete distributor cap

I have a 1991 Bayliner with a Mercruiser 3.0L Alpha One motor. Serial number: OD443256. I tried to tune up the ignition recently with new condenser, points cap and rotor. I discovered that everything is available except for the Prestolite distrtibutor cap (IBM-1007). The guy at the local boat shop told me that they only used that ignition setup for a couple of years so parts are hard to find. Does anybody have any experience in putting in a later distributor, that still has parts available? Any guidance on where to find a used distributor and what years/ serial numbers would be compatible?
Thanks!

Alldodge, this caught my eye, so I did serial number search & sure enough it appears to be a limited production run of prestolite distributors (for some reason). I was a parts manager at a large dealer for a few years & never encountered it.
The Delco cap in your post fits virtually all 4 cylinder conventional distributors, both OMC & Mercruiser EXCEPT for his. Looks like a V8 cap with every other terminal blocked out.

He said 1980's so I looked for 80's model 3.0 (link above) because the serial number did not list points ignition, it either had DDIS or EST. I'll leave it to both of your knowledge and bow out

If it was my boat I would ditch the points and switch to Delco EST

I put S/N in search & got conventional, digital & Delco EST choices.
The conventional is this oddball Prestolite system. Here is the picture, looks like ghosts Ebay link.
