Johnson 15hp 1998, new power pack, worked fine for a few minutes?! < VIDEO

Hi everyone,

I have this old Johnson/Evinrude 15hp 4-stroke from 1998. Engine worked fine a week ago but one day she stopped giving spark.
I tested stator output resistance and iginition coil resistance and they both looked fine so I ordered a new powerpack/cdi which is like 330 euro here in Europe..

Mounted the new power pack and tested spark: Very nice blue spark and the engine ran immediately. Gave a little gas, no problem.
After restarting the engine, it started fine but gave a little gas again and she died sputtering quickly. Problem? Can't see any spark on the bougie or with a spark tester any longer...

Tested stator AC output and resistance:
Stator orange wires: 134 V AC / 86 Ω
Stator brown wires: 153 V AC / 118 Ω

The engine does still show some life, but a spark is not visible when tested. My thoughts are it is veeery weak. See video:

Did I fry the brand new power pack again? Any thoughts? Thanks

After installing the new powerpack I could see a blue spark in daylight. And after a restart it's gone.

The puff of smoke through the carburetor makes me wonder if the flywheel key has sheared and your timing is now out of sync.

But that should still give a good spark right

technically yes, but I would first confirm the flywheel is in the correct position before replacing any other parts.

A sheared flywheel key should still give you strong spark.----The new powerpack was sourced from factory or somewhere else?
