Oil pressure senders 88 350 king cobra

My pprt engine oil pressure at 3k rpm will out of blue do the needle dance.
Then settle
Then at another random time do the dance from 20 to 50.
Senders are original
Thinking out direct guage at sender to verify oil pressure
Then replace senders
Engine have 866 hrs fresh water
Only
 
could be sender...could also be something has become marginal in one of the harness connections.

using the mechanical gauge would be prudent but doesn't isolate the sending unit as a potential cause of the flutter...
 
really thinking to spend the dollars get new gauges and senders for both engines,
omc harness is notorious for wiggling loose and causing guage issue
my volt meters also randomly choose to dance , i have cleaned the large harness connectors
freshened grounds etc
but the oil pressure one still persists,
39 years old always seem to have issues :eek:🤣🤣🤣
 
I believe the male pins in the big disconnect from engine to boat harness have a split in them & can be spread slightly to make better contact. (I know MerCruiser harnesses do). A little dielectric grease on assembly helps stop corrosion. I use it on light bulbs when I install them too.

You could swap the senders port to starboard & see of problem follows.
